Lulworth gunnery range is usually active Monday to Friday inclusive, from 0930 - 1700; and night firing until midnight usually takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  A limited amount of weekend activity is also scheduled throughout the year.

For information concerning firing today or in the near future, including start and finish times and the danger area(s) affected, near St Alban's Head, please contact the NCI duty watch. Please telephone:01929 439220 or use VHF Ch 65 (Callsign: "St Albans Head NCI").

In addition, the danger areas are patrolled by dedicated range safety boats, (Callsign: "Range Safety", often with vessel's name e.g. "Smit Frome", "Smit Cerne", or "Smit Wey"), who monitor VHF Ch 08 whilst the range is active

About

Currently 56 NCI stations are operational and manned by over 2500 volunteers keeping watch around the British Isles from Rossall  Point in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

NCI watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the NCI ensures that high standards are met.
