16th May 2020. Following the Governments announcement of the relaxing of Coronavirus measures in England, the Executive Committee of the National Coastwatch Institution have authorised  stations around the coast to resume operations as from 08:00 today, providing ‘ Eyes Along the Coast’ and helping people working or at leisure around the coast to stay safe.

Several look-outs have re-opened today with many more anticipated to resume operations over the next several days. In order to meet social distancing requirements, stations will be open on a single-manned basis and, unfortunately, will not be open to visitors. As many of our volunteers fall within the vulnerable groups category, some stations will only be able to open for limited hours initially. Individual lookouts can be contacted by telephone and on marine VHF Channel 65 during opening hours.

This announcement currently only applies to the NCI stations in England. NCI stations in Wales will remain closed to comply with the instructions of the Welsh Assembly.
