NEW MEMBER JOINS NCI BOARD OF TRUSTEES

20th July 2022. The Trustees of the National Coastwatch Institution are pleased to announce that with immediate effect Vice Admiral Sir Alan Massey KCB CBE has agreed to being co-opted to the NCI Board of Trustees.

 NCI Chairman Clive Pouncey said “Sir Alan, a former senior officer in the Royal Navy, served as the Second Sea Lord and as the Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and has worked with the board in the past during the development of the current five-year plan. Sir Alan is a qualified NCI watchkeeper and has been keeping watch for over 2 years. We welcome him to the Board”.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire. 

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
