NCI SUPPORTS NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK

7th June 2022. The beginning of June saw the National Coastwatch Institution celebrate National Volunteers Week.

Volunteers Week takes place every year in the first week of June and is an opportunity to recognise the contribution that volunteers make to our communities and to say thank you.

NCI celebrated Volunteers Week by publishing a number of articles on Social Media that had been contributed by NCI volunteers under the heading of “The Value of Volunteering” These articles described why these volunteers had joined NCI, the contribution they make to the charity and what the benefits are to the volunteers themselves.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
