Hornsea

 

The Hornsea NCI station, occupies the former East Riding of Yorkshire Council Foreshore Building, the building was originally used as Coastguard Watch Station. The station is located on the upper Hornsea promenade and has an excellent view of the coast line between Flamborough Light House, Bridlington, Fraisthorpe, Atwick on the Northern side of the station and Mapleton, Aldborough, Withernsea coastline on the South side

Visitor Policy
Visitors are welcome during opening hours, when an incident is ongoing this might not always be convenient and watchkeepers night ask visitors to return later. Visitors are asked to sign in on entering the station.
Access

The station is on the North Promenade in front of the Marine Hotel. The closest road access is at the junction of Eastgate and Marine Drive.

Currently 56 NCI stations are operational and manned by over 2500 volunteers keeping watch around the British Isles from Rossall  Point in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire. 

NCI watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the NCI ensures that high standards are met.
