OPEN AIR SERVICE RAISES FUNDS FOR NCI CAPE CORNWALL

8th July 2018. A local service has raised valuable funds for NCI Cape Cornwall.

The annual St Peterstide service took place in the beautiful setting of Boat Cove, overlooking the sea near to Pendeen Lighthouse. The service was conducted by the Vicar of St Just & Pendeen with the music provided by the Pendeen Silver band. The event is organised annually and each year, the money raised is donated to the National Coastwatch station at Cape Cornwall. This year the service and other associated events raised £560 which was gratefully received by the station. NCI Cape Cornwall was represented by several members along with two watchkeepers who are also members of the Pendeen Silver band.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
