NEW EXHIBITION TRAILER FOR THE NCI

21st May 2017. The new NCI exhibition trailer had its first outing on 19th, 20th and 21st May, at the Poole Harbour Boat Show, manned over the three days by volunteers from the NCI stations at Swanage, St Alban’s Head, Portland and Lyme Bay

Although it is not yet fully fitted out with its full range of display equipment, it provides a splendid all-weather presentation stand for NCI. Over the next few weeks it is planned to install a range of electronic equipment which will demonstrate the NCI’s capability in maintaining a watch along the coast.

The next outing of the exhibition trailer will be at the Northern Boat Show in Liverpool on 23rd to 25th June, followed by the the Western Boat Show & Bristol Harbour Festival on 21st to 23rd July. The final event of the year will be the ten-day Southampton Boat Show running from 15th to 24th September 2017.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
