22 April 2011 - Following its Annual General Meeting held on 16 April, the Board of Trustees of the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) has appointed Alan Richards as Chairman. Alan (pictured) has been Chairman of the NCI Advisory Board as well as being a founder member and Station Manager at NCI Worms Head in South Wales. He is standing down from these roles in order to concentrate on guiding the Charity through the next phase of its development.
Having served latterly as Chairman of the Advisory Board, Alan has been significantly involved in setting out the way forward for NCI as it reviews its development plans for the next five years and is regarded by the board as being best suited to lead their implementation. His appointment has taken place with immediate effect.
Commenting on the appointment, Alan said:
“As a comparatively young organization run on an entirely voluntary basis, NCI has already come a long way since it was first established in 1994. We now operate 44 lookout stations in England and Wales with more in the pipeline and I am excited to be taking up the challenge of steering the Charity forward at such an important stage of its development”.
